TV Broadcasting Still a Major and Essential Element of Video Ecosystem
NAB filed comments on June 8 in response to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) annual survey on the state of video competition. The FCC proceeding – the Annual Assessment of the Status of Competition in the Market for the Delivery of Video Programming – is required every year by Congress as mandated in the 1992 Cable Act. The FCC is collecting comments and data for its 14th annual report.

DC, MD, NC, SC, VA and WV Radio Stations On-Air Announcements

Radio stations in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia must have filed their license renewal applications by June 1, 2011. These stations must air post-filing on-air announcements on June 16, July 1 and 16, and August 1 and 16.

2011 Congressional PSA Campaign Launch Later this Month
In each off-election year, NAB invites members of Congress and their families to tape free, professionally-produced public service announcements (PSAs) on issues of concern to their local communities. This year 198 members and their families, representing 46 states and Puerto Rico, participated in the program.

Major Broadcast Groups Support NABEF Technology Apprenticeship Program
The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) announced that several major broadcast groups have offered internship opportunities to the 2011 Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP) participants. The broadcasters include Clear Channel Radio, The Dispatch Broadcast Group, ABC, Inc., NBC Universal, Inc., Univision Communications, Inc., CBS Radio and Cox Media Group.
