Major Broadcast Groups Support NABEF Technology Apprenticeship Program

The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) announced that several major broadcast groups have offered internship opportunities to the 2011 Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP) participants. The broadcasters include Clear Channel Radio, The Dispatch Broadcast Group, ABC, Inc., NBC Universal, Inc., Univision Communications, Inc., CBS Radio and Cox Media Group.

The TAP program, sponsored by Ericsson Television, exposes 10 high-tech graduates and professionals to the broadcast industry. The six-month program includes a two-month internship at a radio or television station and a three-day training program with a major technology manufacturer.

"We are grateful for the role these broadcasters are playing in cultivating the skills of tomorrow's engineers and future technology leaders," said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. "The internship aspect of the program is critical for participants to gain hands-on experience and in achieving overall success of the program."

In addition to the apprenticeship and training program, TAP participants received free admittance to the NAB Show, where they learned about the latest technological advances in the industry during TAP training sessions.
