The Mavericks to Perform at NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Association of Broadcasters announced the 2013 NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show will feature a performance by Grammy-winng group The Mavericks. The event, sponsored by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, will take place September 19 at the 2013 Radio Show at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.

"The Mavericks' infectious energy, passion and chemistry on stage will make this year's NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner an unforgettable evening," said NAB Executive Vice President of Radio John David. "These guys are great entertainers excited to join Radio to salute the Marconi nominees and winners. Our thanks to Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Label Group in Nashville for helping to make this happen."

The genre-defying Mavericks, who describe themselves as the "most interesting band in the world," have blended country, rock and Cuban sounds in hit songs such as "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down," "Here Comes the Rain" and "Dance the Night Away."

The Mavericks have captured the infectious energy and robust sound from their live shows on their latest album release, In Time (The Valory Music Co.). In Time is one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of the year, receiving rave reviews from the LA Times and USA Today. Lead singer and frontman Raul Malo wrote each track including "Dance in the Moonlight," "Born to Be Blue" and the horn-punctuated "Back in Your Arms Again."

In addition to Malo, The Mavericks feature drummer Paul Deakin, multi-instrumentalist Robert Reynolds, keyboardist Jerry Dale McFadden and guitarist Eddie Perez. Their strong chemistry leads to exciting live performances filled with distinct sounds, garage band ferocity and polyrhythmic beats.

Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
