New License Renewal Cycle Starts June 1
D.C., Md., Va. and W.V. Radio Stations Must Make On-Air Announcements
Radio stations in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia file their license renewal applications on or before June 1, 2011. These stations must air Pre-Filing On-Air Announcements on May 1 and 16. Post-Filing On-Air announcements for these stations must be aired June 1 and 16, July 1 and 16, and August 1 and 16. Letter to Capitol Hill: Encourage the Continued Implementation of Radio Capability in Mobile Phones
Last week, NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith sent a letter to members of Congress reminding them that radio has long served as a critical lifeline for emergency information, making it the perfect complement to mobile phones.
"For the safety of your constituents," Smith wrote, "incorporating broadcast radio into mobile phones should be a critical component of any next-generation wireless emergency alerting solution." Full Article >

NAB Public Service Initiatives Division Hosts Successful Public Service Pavilion at 2011 NAB Show
NAB Public Service Initiatives hosted 14 public service representatives from partnering nonprofit organizations at the NAB Show.
