NAB Public Service Initiatives hosted 14 public service representatives from partnering nonprofit organizations at the NAB Show. Individuals from the Ad Council, EPA, Red Cross, Rotary International and TEAM Coalition, among others, joined NAB in distributing radio and television public service announcements (PSAs), informational one-pagers, flyers and other giveaways to attendees on the exhibit floor. Numerous organizations that were unable to send personnel to Las Vegas also provided information for distribution at the booth. Hundreds of PSAs were distributed to convention attendees throughout the four-day exhibition, along with information about NAB Spot Center - NAB's public service website - and NAB's newly launched e-newsletter, Licensed to Serve: A Chronicle of Broadcasters' Community Service Initiatives.
During the Show, NAB hosted a public service roundtable breakfast in partnership with Nielsen and TV Access. The gathering included a panel discussion with the community relations director at KTNV-TV Las Vegas, Lifetime Networks' advocacy and public affairs coordinator and several nonprofit representatives. The breakfast was an opportunity for public service partners to learn stations' preferred means of receiving PSAs, to discover the importance of cultivating relationships with station personnel in securing airtime and to discuss the future of digital distribution and utilizing social media tools to build a following. Additionally, NAB held an evening reception for the nonprofit partners to celebrate their contribution to the NAB Show and to show appreciation for their continued support of broadcasters across the country.
