NAB Unveils On-Air Campaign Touting The Future
of Broadcast TV

Last week NAB unveiled a new on-air campaign promoting the future of broadcast television. "The Future of TV" campaign, which is comprised of a 30-second television and radio ad, was previewed last Monday as part of a virtual town hall with NAB leadership. NAB is making "The Future of TV" spot available to radio and television stations to air from January 4-24. The television spots will be distributed via satellite on December 22 and again on December 28.

Copyright Royalty Board Sets Streaming Rates
The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has released its Initial Determination of Rates and Terms for noninteractive webcasting during 2011-2015. In their decision, the judges adopted the rates and terms of the NAB/SoundExchange agreement in its entirety, thus making the NAB deal applicable to all eligible commercial broadcasters that stream under the statutory license, regardless of whether they have affirmatively opted into the NAB/SoundExchange agreement.

New AM Radio Data Concept Developed
NAB FASTROAD has announced the release of a report on a new AM radio data service concept, with the potential to provide AM broadcasters the ability to transmit low-rate data similar to what FM broadcasters can provide using the Radio Data System (RDS) subcarrier. This work was undertaken by iBiquity Digital Corporation, developers of the HD Radio IBOC system used by U.S. broadcasters to transition to digital radio, and was co-funded by iBiquity and NAB FASTROAD.
