NAB Participates in FCC Ownership Workshop
On November 2, 3 and 4, the FCC held a series of workshops relating to its broadcast ownership rules, in anticipation of the launching of its required "quadrennial" review of these rules that the agency must undertake in 2010. NAB Executive Vice President and General Counsel Jane Mago testified at the workshop on November 4, giving the broadcast industry's perspective as to how the FCC should approach its upcoming review of the ownership rules.

With only two weeks remaining until the end of the NAB Congressional Families Public Service Campaign, NAB encourages television and radio stations to air public service announcements (PSAs) featuring your elected officials frequently before November 30, 2009. More than 230 members of Congress and their families are featured in the campaign, which includes nearly 800 PSAs on a variety of important health and social topics.

NABEF Celebrates Broadcast Leadership Training Program's 10th Anniversary
On November 4, The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Broadcast Leadership Training (BLT) Program.. The BLT curriculum teaches senior level broadcast executives the fundamentals of purchasing, owning and successfully operating radio and television stations. To date, 37 percent of the alumni of the BLT Program have received one or more promotions and 28 former students have purchased stations.

Entries are now being accepted for the 2010 NAB International Broadcasting Excellence Awards. The awards will be presented during the NAB Show in Las Vegas, 10-15 April 2010.

KKLI-FM Colorado Springs, Colo. - The 2008 presidential election was a major focus for last year, and KKLI-FM's morning show conducted interviews with the people their listeners wanted to hear from, including local candidates for mayor and now First Lady Michelle Obama. And when a local organization that provides a safe house for area women and children had to cancel a fundraiser at the last minute, KKLI held an online auction, raising $7,000 from time-sensitive items that would have gone to waste.
