NAB Comments on FCC's Broadband Inquiry
Last week, NAB filed joint comments with the Association for Maximum Service Television in which NAB encouraged the FCC to embrace a consumer-focused approach to spectrum management. NAB urged the FCC to adopt a holistic approach to spectrum management that takes into account the public policy goals served by a particular use of spectrum (e.g., digital television), instead of over-emphasizing the revenues that a licensee may derive from a given use of spectrum allocation. Specifically, we rejected the notion, espoused by some parties affiliated with the commercial wireless industry, that it would be necessary to curtail consumer's access to free over-the-air digital television in order to create a world-class broadband system.
