NAB Applauds Senate Passage of FOIA Reform

WASHINGTON, DC – NAB today applauded Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Senate leadership for working to pass the Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National Government Act, a bill that will create greater governmental transparency and accountability.

The Senate passage follows House approval of similar legislation by a 308-117 vote.

"With this legislation, the Senate has taken a great step forward in furthering a more open and accountable government," said NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton. "Government transparency is the cornerstone of American democracy, and NAB salutes Senators Leahy and Cornyn for their commitment to this important legislation."
