Clete Johnson

Christopher Homer is Vice President of Operations & Engineering for Public Broadcast Service (PBS). He is an active member of SMPTE, SBE and former Secretary and President of Society Television Engineers (STE), in Los Angeles. Christopher has spent over 34 years in television engineering and operations for post-production, media operations, live and studio productions and terrestrial and satellite broadcast.

His past experiences cross a diverse range of industry experience; 2006-2013 Vice President of Broadcast Operations at DIRECTV managing 13 broadcast centers throughout the US, 1999-2006 Chief Engineer for two Los Angeles based television stations during the digital transition (KMEX and KWHY), and 1990-1999 Vice President of Production & Post Production for Fox Broadcasting. Prior to working at Fox Chris worked as a support engineer for Harris Broadcast, Grass Valley Group and Digital F/X.

Chris has a Degree in Business Management and served in the United States Armed Forces as a Naval Avionics Technician. He is currently serving on FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC IV) 2013-2015, served on CSRIC III 2011-2013 (co-chair of WG#9 EAS committee), Board of Directors for Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), and active on Advanced Television Standards Committee (ATSC) S35.
