NAB Applauds House Passage of DTV Legislation - Urges White House Approval The National Association of Broadcasters applauds last weeks passage of House legislation granting stations the ability to voluntarily broadcast in analog format a digital TV informational message or emergency information in the days following the DTV transition on February 17, 2009. The legislation, approved by unanimous consent, is identical to Senate legislation (S. 3663) introduced by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (WV) and approved by the Senate last month. The House effort was led by Rep. Lois Capps (CA-23). The bill now goes to the White House for approval.

Vin Scully, one of the most celebrated sportscasters in history, will be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame during the NAB Show Radio Luncheon sponsored by ASCAP. National DTV Readiness Test on December 17
With two months left until the digital television (DTV) transition is completed, local broadcasters in at least 42 states and the District of Columbia are gearing up to conduct the first-ever national readiness test to help viewers prepare for the switch. On December 17, every participating station will broadcast over their analog signals information that explains the upcoming transition to DTV and directs viewers to resources for further assistance.

Satellite Re-feed of DTV Action Spots on December 19
NAB will re-feed via satellite a new round of DTV Action television spots on Friday, December 19, at 1 p.m. (EST). The 14-minute feed contains 13 spots in English and six spots in Spanish, followed by a replay of all spots immediately after completion of the first run.
