NAB Members Pledge Continuation of TV Service Before and After DTV Transition
All four network affiliate organizations endorse plan

The National Association of Broadcasters announced on August 12 that television stations across the U.S. have embraced a pro-consumer initiative ensuring continued television service in the weeks leading up to and following the digital television (DTV) transition. The boards of directors of the ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC affiliate organizations have agreed to support a voluntary month-long 'quiet period' ensuring no disruption of local television service in the weeks leading up to and following the digital television transition.

Reminder: Political Window for General Election Fast Approaching
The lowest unit charge (LUC) window for the General Election will open Friday, September 5. Stations should have already calculated their LUC for each daypart and class of time sold at the station. These rates should be disclosed in the station’s political folder in the public file. Additionally, the FCC has informally stated that stations that sell political spots on Election Day must sell at the LUC rate. If you have specific questions on political advertising, please call the NAB Legal department toll free at (866) 682-0276.

PSA Contest for College Communications Students
The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation and the Broadcast Education Association are accepting entries for a public service announcement (PSA) competition for college students in recognition of National Freedom of Speech Week. Each year, the third week of October is designated as National Freedom of Speech Week.
