The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF), the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) will host the 2008 Radio Show Career Day on Wednesday, September 17 at the Austin Convention Center.
This year's career day will include a new "Speed Mentoring" session hosted by members of the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group (MIW) and American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT). The 90-minute session will feature a series of individual meetings with professionals in radio programming, sales, marketing and management. During these timed sessions, attendees will receive one-on-one instruction on how to best obtain career goals and advance in radio.
"Career Day provides an excellent opportunity for job seekers to network and meet with professionals in broadcasting," said NAB Education Foundation President Marcellus Alexander. "NABEF's commitment to diversity and career advancement for aspiring broadcasters will be further enhanced by the addition of AWRT and MIW's mentoring session."
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in "Measuring a Successful Career," a session that examines the methods used for gathering audience information for radio stations and advertising organizations. During the session, participants will learn how measuring the habits and preferences of listeners impacts radio broadcasting.
The NABEF-BEA-RTNDA Radio Show Career Day is free and open to experienced professionals, students and entry-level job seekers. For more information, go to the NABEF Career Day Web site or contact Michelle Duke at (202) 429-5361.
