Majority of U.S. House Members Now Oppose RIAA Tax on Radio
Four additional House members have voiced opposition to the recording industry-backed effort to levy a "new performance fee, tax, royalty or other charge" on local radio stations for music airplay. The Congressional opposition to the label-led campaign now stands at 220, representing a majority of the 435-member U.S. House of Representatives.

A reminder to television stations whose signals were carried as distant signals by at least one cable system in 2007: The dates for filing a cable copyright royalty claim with the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) begins July 1, 2008 and will end Tuesday July 31, 2008.

Attention TV Broadcasters: New Database for Upcoming DTV Consumer Education Reports
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that the DTV Quarterly Activity Station Report (Form 388) must now be filed in the FCC's Consolidated Database System (CDBS). Previously, stations were required to file Form 388 via the FCC's electronic comment filing system. The next report is due on July 10.

NAB Survey Finds 88 Percent of Hispanic Homes Know About DTV
With eight months to go before the nation transitions to all-digital television (DTV) broadcasting, awareness among America's most at-risk population-broadcast-only Hispanic households-has tripled.The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) last week released a new poll that found 88 percent of Hispanic households were aware that television broadcasting would be switching to a digital format, up from 74 percent in a January 2008 survey commissioned by NAB.
