FCC "Eligible Entity" Rules Suspended - Build Out Deadlines Affected for Some Broadcasters
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Media Bureau recently released a public notice giving guidance to broadcasters in light of the Third Circuit's July 7 holding in Prometheus Radio Project v. FCC. In that case, the court vacated several aspects of the FCC's broadcast ownership rules, including the definition of "eligible entity."

Important Message About the Upcoming National EAS Test
This important message from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is brought to you as a service of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). On November 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. (EST), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the FCC are going to conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). All broadcasters who participate in EAS must participate in the nationwide EAS test.

FCC Regulatory Fees Due September 14, 2011
The FCC has announced that broadcasters and other regulated licensees must pay their annual regulatory fees no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on September 14, 2011, to avoid incurring a 25 percent late payment penalty. The only major change in the process is the FCC's discontinuation of its practice of sending fee assessment notifications by regular U.S. mail to media service entities.

The Debt Ceiling Super Committee
The super Congress, officially titled "The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction," consists of 12 lawmakers, six from each party and each chamber, who have been given nearly unprecedented power to cut projected deficits by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. The committee will need only seven votes to pass its proposal.

As the 10th Anniversary of September 11 quickly approaches, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has partnered with the organizers of the 9/11Day of Service and Remembrance to recognize the important date.
