The FCC has announced that broadcasters and other regulated licensees must pay their annual regulatory fees no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on September 14, 2011, to avoid incurring a 25 percent late payment penalty. The only major change in the process is the FCC's discontinuation of its practice of sending fee assessment notifications by regular U.S. mail to media service entities. Broadcasters now need to visit the FCC's website to verify the amount they owe and to gather other important information about the fiscal year 2011 regulatory fees, and to begin the filing and payment process.
