AM Radio Bill Now Supported by 61 Senators, 280 Representatives in August Surge

Washington, D.C. – Congressional support for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act accelerated during the August congressional recess, with the bill now backed by 280 bipartisan cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives and a filibuster-proof 61 in the U.S. Senate. Since August 1, 20 House members have signed on, an extraordinary groundswell of momentum while lawmakers were away from Washington, D.C.

This robust support reflects the power of local advocacy. While home in their districts, members of Congress heard directly from their constituents about the importance of preserving AM radio in cars, a service that 82 million Americans depend on for emergency alerts, trusted local news and cultural programming that binds communities together.

“We thank the growing, bipartisan group of lawmakers standing up for their constituents who depend on AM radio,” said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt. “This support demonstrates a deep understanding that AM radio remains an essential lifeline for emergency alerts, local news and community connection. With significant momentum behind this bill, NAB urges House leadership to bring it to the floor without delay and preserve this vital service for the American public.”
