WASHINGTON, DC -- In response to passage of the Innovation Act (H.R. 3309) by the House of Representatives, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:
"NAB applauds Chairman Goodlatte and his colleagues in the House of Representatives for their passage of the Innovation Act with an overwhelming bipartisan majority. Today's vote sends a strong message that lawmakers stand in support of innovation and condemn the harms caused to both the economy and our patent system by so-called 'patent trolls'. America's broadcasters look forward to working with the Senate to ensure that legislation to address this important issue is enacted into law."
The National Association of Broadcasters is the premier advocacy association for America's broadcasters. NAB advances radio and television interests in legislative, regulatory and public affairs.
