WASHINGTON, DC - John Orlando, Executive Vice President and head of the NAB Government Relations department, has accepted the position of Senior Vice President, CBS Washington.
"John has been an extraordinarily effective lobbyist for the entire broadcast industry over the last five years," said NAB President and CEO David Rehr. "We wish him nothing but the best, and we look forward to working with John as he moves back to his old home at CBS."
Orlando joined NAB in January 2001 after a stint as Vice President, Washington, for CBS. Beginning Jan. 17, he will become Senior Vice President, Washington, for the new CBS Corporation, where he will run the company's Washington office and serve as the lead contact with Congress and the Administration.
"We will miss John Orlando," said NAB Joint Board Chairman Bruce Reese, President and CEO of Bonneville International. "Under his leadership, NAB's talented Government Relations team has strengthened its well-earned reputation as one of Washington's premiere lobbying organizations."
Orlando said moving back to CBS "is an opportunity that I simply cannot turn down. I leave NAB knowing that this great trade association is stacked with immensely talented individuals. I will always consider myself part of the NAB family."
The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air broadcasting interests in Washington and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members.
