NAB Encourages Stations to Air Television PSAs for Childhood Obesity Prevention Campaign

WASHINGTON, DC - NAB has distributed television PSAs to stations in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the Ad Council for the upcoming Childhood Obesity Prevention Campaign.

The campaign aims to fight the growing problem of obesity among the nation's youth. The PSAs, which target children ages 6 to 9, are designed to let children and parents know that eating healthy can help kids do the things they really love to do, and do them better. They direct the audience to an informative and fun Web site, www.smallstep.gov, to learn more about the benefits of eating healthy and find exciting ways to lead a more active lifestyle.

NAB is encouraging television broadcasters to clear airtime to feature the campaign PSAs within children's programming at least three times per week during the month of November, Childhood Obesity Prevention Month. The PSAs, originally made available to stations via the monthly PSA satellite feed on October 21, will be featured again on the November 18 feed from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (ET). Satellite coordinates: C-Band, AMC01, Transponder 20, Downlink Frequency 4100 MHz, Vertical Polarity, Audio 6.2 and 6.8. Alternatively, stations may order a free dub by contacting NAB National Campaigns at nationalcampaigns@nab.org or (202) 429-5448.

The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air broadcasting interests in Washington and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members.
