WASHINGTON, DC - NAB and the Congressional Club will today begin taping a series of localized public service announcements (PSAs) for television and radio stations that feature spouses and children of members of Congress.
The 2005 PSA campaign will feature topics related to breast cancer awareness, bullying, child safety, diabetes, emergency preparedness, literacy, physical fitness and volunteer service. The PSA offer has been extended to each member of Congress, and NAB encourages local stations to air the pro-social messages in home districts.
"NAB is proud to once again team up with the Congressional Club to educate citizens on these important issues," said NAB President and CEO Edward O. Fritts. "Local television and radio stations are committed to providing airtime to address social, health and public safety concerns."
Since its inception in 1985, NAB's Congressional Families PSA Program has alerted and informed families across the country on important social and health issues in their local communities. Tapings will take place in Washington, DC over the next three weeks.
The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air local radio and television stations' interests in Washington and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members.
