NAB Backs House Leaders’ Call for FCC to Modernize Broadcast Ownership Rules

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt:

"We are grateful to Chairmen Brett Guthrie and Richard Hudson for their leadership in urging the FCC to modernize outdated ownership restrictions and lift the national TV ownership cap. Their support reflects growing recognition that modernizing these rules is essential to ensuring local stations can compete, innovate and continue serving their communities with trusted information. We look forward to working with Chairman Carr and the FCC to move this issue forward.”

Background

Calls to modernize these rules have been echoed by a broad coalition of broadcast companies, the House and Senate, as well as right of center and community groups, all urging policymakers to level the playing field so broadcasters can continue to grow and serve their communities. Today’s call for ownership reform occurred during the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology’s FCC oversight hearing.
