Broadcasters Successful Thus Far in Spectrum Battle
Stations can discontinue airing spots
Broadcasters from around the country stepped up to send a very powerful message to Congress over the past two weeks. The result? Harmful spectrum language was never included in House Speaker John Boehner's (OH-08) debt ceiling legislation and was stripped from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (NV) debt ceiling legislation over the weekend.

Spectrum Impact Archived Webcast, Presentation and Grassroots Toolkit Available

New License Renewal Cycle Started June 1, 2011
Washington, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands Radio Stations On-Air Announcements

Radio stations in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia must have filed their license renewal applications by June 1, 2011. These stations must air post-filing on-air announcements on August 1 and 16.

Last Day to File: Cable Copyright Royalty Claims Must be Filed Today, August 1, 2011
It's time again to file your claim for cable copyright royalties. Television stations whose signals were carried as distant signals by at least one cable system in 2010 must file a claim with the Copyright Royalty Board no later than August 1, 2011. If a station fails to file within this time frame, it cannot collect any royalties for 2010. Broadcasters can file claims online through the Copyright Office's website. FCC Seeks Comments on LPFM vs. FM Translators
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (Notice) seeking comment on how to implement the Local Community Radio Act of 2010, which opens the door for the licensing of more low-power FM (LPFM) stations.
