2011 NAB Board of Directors Election to be Conducted Electronically
The 2011 NAB Board of Directors election will be conducted by email from February 8 to March 22. The 2011 election is for odd-numbered radio districts and six of the at-large television seats. Full Article >
NAB/MSTV Urge No Change to Method for Predicting TV Signal Strength
In comments filed January 21, 2011, NAB and the Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) told the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that its existing Individual Location Longley-Rice (ILLR) model provided a reliable and accurate means of predicting whether an individual household was "served" or "unserved" by local television signals and was eligible to receive distant network signals from satellite carriers. Broadcasters urged the FCC not to adopt proposed changes to the ILLR model for which insufficient information had been provided; that had not been peer reviewed; nor for which there was any evidence that accuracy would be increased. Improvements in Embedded Antennas for Broadcast Reception in Handheld Devices Unveiled
NAB FASTROAD has announced the release of two reports on the development of improved VHF and UHF frequency band antennas to support reception of broadcast radio and mobile DTV signals in handheld devices. These FASTROAD-funded projects were undertaken to help accelerate the proliferation of radio and mobile DTV receivers in cell phones, which can benefit greatly from the use of embedded antenna solutions. Power Efficient Broadcast Transmission Facilities Topic of New White Paper
NAB FASTROAD recently released a white paper on power-efficient broadcast facility transmission design for radio and television stations. With funding from the NAB FASTROAD technology advocacy program, this paper was researched and authored by the broadcast engineering consulting firm of Cavell, Mertz & Associates (CMA). Full Article >

NAB Show Announces Debut of NAB Show Virtual View
NAB Show Virtual View, the first virtual extension of the NAB Show in Las Vegas, will launch live on May 12, 2011. The event will feature exhibitor demonstrations, interviews and booth tours, as well as live interactive video chats with industry experts on important discoveries that emerge from the NAB Show.
