FCC Announces New Procedures for DTV Delay, New Filings Due Tonight
If you plan to end your analog signal on February 17, you must file new forms with the FCC by Tonight, Monday, February 9
The digital television (DTV) transition hard date has been changed by Congress to June 12, 2009. However, many broadcast stations may still need to turn off their analog signal before June 12. For those that plan to end analog broadcasting before June 12, please read this story carefully. Last Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced updated procedures and filing requirements for stations that plan to turn off their analog signal prior to June 12. This includes stations that still plan to turn off their analog signal on February 17.

NAB Urges Congress to Oppose Record Label Bailout
NAB President and CEO David Rehr urged lawmakers to oppose legislation introduced on February 4 that would force America's hometown radio stations to pay a new "performance fee" to the recording industry for music aired free on the radio. The legislation, introduced in the House, is supported by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A measure opposing last Wednesday's Congressional action is expected to be introduced shortly.

New NAB Poll: 8 of 10 Broadcast-Only Households Have Taken Steps to Prepare for DTV
According to a new poll released by NAB, more than eight out of 10 American households that will be most impacted by the switch to digital television (DTV) have taken action to ready their homes. A national telephone survey of 2,650 households conducted January 2-6 found that 82 percent of over-the-air television households have taken steps to prepare for the transition by learning more about their options in getting DTV, applying for a converter box coupon or completing their upgrade to DTV.
