The Tennessee Association of Broadcasters (TAB) recognized FCC Media Bureau Chief Roy Stewart at their annual Winter Conference and Career Fair in January. Stewart was recognized by TAB for his tenure in helping broadcasters meet their community needs and working through challenging broadcasting issues.
Honored during the conference’s awards luncheon, Stewart was praised by many in the broadcasting industry for his commitment and dedication. "Roy's role at the FCC is vital – he serves as the bridge between broadcasters and regulators. Roy takes the time to understand broadcast issues and also helps us understand policymakers' perspective and what they need from local stations. We value the great working relationship we have with Roy and his role in keeping the lines of communication open with the Commission," said NAB President David K. Rehr.
Stewart has worked at the FCC for more than 40 years. Before serving as media bureau chief, Stewart served as the Media Bureau's chief of the Office of Broadcast License Policy.
Paul Tinkle, president of Thunderbolt Broadcasting and a past TAB president presented Stewart with the award and said, "Roy Stewart is a friend of broadcasting and the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters is proud to call Roy our friend."
TAB's annual Winter Conference and Career Fair was held January 26-27 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
