Radio Show to Explore the Podcast Revolution

--Session to focus on how-to strategies for broadcasters charting the course in today’s podcast boom --

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Leaders from the growing podcast industry will participate in “The Podcast Revolution,” a Radio Show session scheduled for Wednesday, September 25. The Radio Show, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), will be held September 24-26 in Dallas, Texas.

Panelists Carter Brokaw, president of iHeartMedia’s digital revenue strategy; Neal Carruth, National Public Radio’s general manager of podcasts; and Oren Rosenbaum, emerging platforms and podcasting agent at United Talent Agency, will discuss podcasting trends and strategies with moderator Conal Byrne, president of the iHeartPodcast Network.

"The business of podcasting is still so nascent with broadcasters experimenting and producing podcast networks that are leading the way," said Radio Advertising Bureau President and CEO Erica Farber. "This session will help any size broadcaster, audio specialist, and advertiser understand what's working and what you can do to produce quality and revenue-generating podcast content in your local market."

The session will highlight and examine everything from the creative process to successful branding for broadcasters and advertisers, along with monetization and distribution opportunities.

In his role as president of iHeartMedia’s digital revenue strategy, Carter Brokaw oversees and develops iHeartMedia’s overall digital revenue strategies for more than 850 streaming radio stations and websites. iHeartMedia has 130 million registered users on iHeartRadio, over two billion app downloads, and more than 145 million social media users across its network.

Conal Byrne is the president of the iHeartPodcast Network. iHeartRadio carries more than 250,000 podcasts, from its own to other major podcast publishers, and Byrne oversees the iHeartPodcast Network of more than 750 original shows that amass more than 164 million downloads a month.

As the general manager of podcasts at National Public Radio (NPR), Neal Carruth fosters programming innovation and the development of new content for NPR’s most popular podcasts. He is also responsible for facilitating connections between NPR's podcast portfolio, NPR's newsroom, and NPR member stations.

Oren Rosenbaum is a digital media agent at United Talent Agency (UTA), where he leads the agency’s emerging platforms division, focusing on podcasts and other interactive entertainment platforms. Rosenbaum represents a variety of podcast networks, creators and early stage companies, including Wondery, Wattpad, Tenderfoot, iHeartMedia/HowStuffWorks, The Boston Globe, Guy Raz of TED Radio Hour and How I Built This, Marc Smerling of Crimetown and The Jinx, Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark of My Favorite Murder, and DJ Khaled.

Confirmation of an additional radio industry panelist is expected soon.
