Legendary Indian Film Actor Dr. Kamal Haasan Joins 2013 NAB Show for "Bollywood Without Borders"

Las Vegas, NV -- India’s legendary film actor, screenwriter, producer and director Dr. Kamal Haasan will appear at 2013 NAB Show on Tuesday, April 9, as part of a panel exploring the topic of the international appeal of Bollywood cinema.

“Bollywood Beyond Borders” will take place on April 9, from 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm. This landmark session will commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema, and will offer a look behind the scenes of "Vishwaroopam," a Tamil spy thriller written, directed, starring and co-produced by Dr. Haasan. "Vishwaroopam" is the first Indian film to utilize the new Auro 3D sound technology. It won the National Film Award for Best Art Direction and Best Choreography in the 2012 National Film Awards.

Joining Dr. Haasan in the session will be Jeff Kleiser, Board Director of the Visual Effects Society, the actress Pooja Kumar, Visual Effects Supervisor Tim McGovern, Visual Effects Supervisor Madhu Sudhanan N., and Ravi Velhal Global Content Policy Strategist from Intel Corporation. This session is part of the partnership between the 2013 NAB Show and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry to organize events honoring the100 year anniversary of Indian cinema.

Dr. Haasan has received wide acclaim for his versatility as an actor and has won several Indian Film awards, including four National film awards and nineteen Filmfare awards. He is known for having starred in the largest number of films submitted by India in consideration for the Foreign Language Film category of the Academy Awards.

Also on April 9, Dr. Haasan will receive an award on behalf of the Indian cinema presented by Chris Brown, Executive Vice President, Conventions & Business Operations for the National Association of Broadcasters. The ceremony is part of the New York Festivals International Film & TV awards.
