WASHINGTON, DC - The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) is now accepting applications for the Connections Mentoring Initiative, a free, year-long leadership development and mentoring fellowship program. The program, now in its third year, pairs veteran broadcasters with women and people of color who are looking to advance their careers in broadcasting. Previously open to people of diverse backgrounds in middle management positions, the program has expanded to include professionals with three or more years of experience in the broadcasting industry.
"Having a veteran broadcaster on hand to provide advice on career advancement is an invaluable asset, particularly in today's competitive environment," said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. "We are pleased that the expansion of our program will allow us to help an even larger group of talented professionals achieve a successful career in broadcasting."
The Connections Mentoring Initiative, produced through the support of the McCormick Foundation and NAB, will provide selected fellows with the opportunity to receive career advice from their mentors , as well as a personalized assessment of their work style from an executive development expert. Members of the program will also participate in six Webinars led by specialists in executive management and media trends. Designed to provide additional career development , these Webinars will help participants set their professional and mentoring goals, and will provide the fellows with the tools and resources needed to become more effective and informed leaders within their organizations. At the close of the program, fellows will receive advice on how to continue enhancing their broadcasting careers.
