NAB to Establish National Hotline for Digital TV Transition
To help ensure a smooth nationwide transition to digital television (DTV), NAB is expanding its consumer education efforts by establishing a national hotline to answer calls from viewers. The toll-free national hotline will serve as an important resource for viewers seeking general information about the DTV transition or the Commerce Department’s TV Converter Box Coupon Program. It will also provide additional resources for pay television service subscribers and consumers with technical questions related to converter boxes and installation.

Hundreds of Stations Participate in First National DTV Test
Television stations in 42 states and the District of Columbia conducted the first-ever national consumer readiness test on December 17 - exactly two months out from the nationwide transition to digital television (DTV). A toll-free number available to viewers in some of nation's top metropolitan areas, including Los Angeles and Chicago, registered more than 30,000 calls.

KLRC-FM in Siloam Springs, Ark., provided more than 2,000 holiday stockings to the 101st Airborne Division 3-187 Infantry Battalion with the "Stockings for Soldiers" drive. Helping spread holiday cheer to servicemen and women, the station promoted the campaign for weeks and got audience members involved at a two-hour live broadcast from a local bookstore. Document your station's public service throughout the upcoming year by utilizing the "Public Service Worksheet for Stations" tear-out sheet from NAB's Advocacy Guide or the online tracking mechanism. NAB Show to Host National Film Competition
NAB Show organizers and the 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) announced today that the 2009 48HFP tour will begin at the NAB Show, held April 18-23 in Las Vegas. The 48HFP competition, established in 2001, promotes filmmaking, creativity and teamwork by providing participants with a compelling topic and prop and giving them two days to write, shoot and edit their film.
