Spotlight on Service
KLRC-FM in Siloam Springs, Ark., provided more than 2,000 holiday stockings to the 101st Airborne Division 3-187 Infantry Battalion with the "Stockings for Soldiers" drive. Helping spread holiday cheer to servicemen and women, the station promoted the campaign for weeks and got audience members involved at a two-hour live broadcast from a local bookstore. Take Advocacy to the Next Level: Track Public Service Online
Document your station's public service throughout the upcoming year by utilizing the "Public Service Worksheet for Stations" tear-out sheet from NAB's Advocacy Guide or the online tracking mechanism. Once tallied, you can use the findings to form an outreach effort to educate your elected officials, community organizations, broadcast audience and others on the public service your station provides each and every day. Originally mailed to stations in July, the "Public Service Worksheet for Stations" and complete Advocacy Guide containing even more outreach ideas, are available online. For more information or to request a free hard copy, email NAB Public Service or call (202) 429-5448.
