Television Stations Must File FCC Form 387 by July 18
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last week issued a reminder to television stations that FCC Form 387 - the Digital Television (DTV) Transition Status Report - should be updated with the Commission no later than July 18, 2008. The FCC's Media Bureau is in the process of preparing a comprehensive mid-transition summary of the DTV transition that is due no later than August 18, and are hoping to have the latest information available.

New NAB Poll Shows Increased Awareness of DTV Leading to Action
Awareness of the transition to digital television (DTV) among African-Americans has jumped sharply during the first half of 2008, according to a new poll released by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). In a telephone survey conducted between March 29 and May 13, 85 percent of African-American households reported being aware that television broadcasting would be switching to an all-digital format. This reflects a 12 percent increase in less than six months. An NAB-commissioned survey in January 2008 found 73 percent of African-Americans were aware of the transition.

NAB Launches Summer DTV Ad Campaign in Nation's Capital
Residents and visitors to the nation's capital this summer are getting an eyeful of messages about the upcoming switch to digital television (DTV). Ads highlighting the DTV transition deadline have been placed in 15 Metrobus shelters located in high-traffic areas around downtown Washington, D.C., as part of the National Association of Broadcasters' (NAB) multifaceted campaign to educate Americans about the biggest change in television broadcasting since color TV was introduced.

MSTV DTV Satellite Coordination Webcast
Satellite companies are in the process of changing over their receive sites to use digital signals as the feeds for their satellite systems. They are proceeding on a market-by-market schedule. Recently, a number of questions have arisen about the process. To answer these questions, the Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) will be hosting a webcast with the leading technical teams from DIRECTV and EchoStar on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (EDT).
