NAB Applauds House Judiciary on Federal Shield Law Passage
NAB applauds House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (MI-14), Reps. Rick Boucher (VA-09), Bob Goodlatte (VA-06) and their Judiciary Committee colleagues for approving H.R. 985, the Free Flow of Information Act. The legislation, which would establish a federal law allowing journalists to protect the identity of confidential sources, passed by a voice vote on March 25.

Nine More Lawmakers Express Opposition to Label-Led Performance Fee on Radio
On March 24, NAB announced that nine additional lawmakers have signed on to a bipartisan U.S. House of Representatives resolution opposing the introduction of "any new performance fee, tax, royalty or other charge" on local radio stations. The growing chorus of support for The Local Radio Freedom Act now stands at 158.

This month, the spotlight is on WNCN-TV in Raleigh, N.C. To protect its viewers from becoming victims of identity theft, the station organizes a community-wide "Shred It" event twice a year.
