TV Stations Feature Area Radio Stations Reactions to Performance Fees

Gray Television's WBKO-TV (Bowling Green, Ky.) and LIN Television’s WLUK-TV (Green Bay, Wis.) aired stories last week describing the potentially devastating impact of the proposed performance tax on radio. In WBKO’s story, NAB Radio Board Chair Steve Newberry and local radio broadcasters discuss the effect on radio stations and their ability to provide community service. "A lot of the stations will probably go to talk because they can't afford to play music," said Newberry. "A lot of small market stations in this economy are barely getting by now. This additional fee on top of it, I'm afraid you'll see a lot of radio stations go out of business."
