NAB Applauds Bipartisan Senate Action Opposing Fairness Doctrine
The U.S. Senate approved an amendment on February 26, which bans the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, a rule eliminated more than 20 years ago that forced broadcasters to air both sides of a controversial issue. This amendment, which passed by a vote of 87-11, was offered to legislation granting voting rights to the District of Columbia.

Anti-Performance Tax Resolution Gains 16 New Cosponsors
Sixteen additional lawmakers have signed-on to a bipartisan House resolution opposing the introduction of "any new performance fee, tax, royalty or other charge" on local radio stations. The growing chorus of support for The Local Radio Freedom Act now stands at 126 and comes on the heels of recent comments made by Country star John Rich who praised WYCD-FM Detroit for helping change the course of his career.

NAB Rebrands DTV Campaign with June 12 Date
In its continuing effort to prepare America for the nationwide switch to digital television (DTV), NAB is rebranding across its multifaceted consumer education campaign to reflect the new June 12 deadline set by Congress. Starting today, NAB will launch new DTV ads in 200 public buses in the nation's capital, where an estimated 20 percent of TV households rely on free over-the-air television.
