You Can Make a Difference in the Fight Against a Performance Tax

The August recess is nearing an end. Now is the time to reach out to your members of Congress to stop a performance tax. The record labels' front group – musicFIRST – continues to aggressively lobby Congress to impose a performance tax on local radio stations.

Review this list to see if your legislators are currently supporting the Local Radio and Freedom Act, which opposes a performance tax on local radio. If so, please thank them for standing up for local radio on air or on your social media accounts, and encourage your local radio listeners to do the same. Use #SupportLocalRadio so we can amplify your efforts. With your engagement, the Local Radio and Freedom Act will soon achieve a majority of support in the House.

If your legislators are not cosponsoring the legislation, click here to urge them to support the Local Radio Freedom Act. Make sure they know about your station's involvement in your local community, including news and emergency coverage, service projects and the jobs you provide, so they understand radio's importance to their constituents.

As a reminder, we provide resources for stations to help build strong relationships with policymakers at nab.org/speakup, and you can find information on our other key issues at nab.org/AdvocacyResources.

We thank you for your support and engagement in our advocacy efforts. Working together, we are ensuring a vibrant future for radio.
