1. PRESS Act Passes House Judiciary Committee

This week, the House Judiciary Committee passed the Protect Reporters from Exploitative State Spying Act (PRESS Act) [H.R. 4250], which provides federal-level protections for journalists regarding disclosure of confidential sources.

  • "Broadcast journalists play a vital role in our democracy by shining a light on injustices, educating their audiences, keeping the public informed and holding elected officials accountable. The PRESS Act will protect reporters' confidential sources and ensure that they can continue this critical work without fear of retaliation," said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt.

2. Air New Congressional PSAs Now

NAB has hosted the Congressional PSA Campaign in off-election years since 1985. This year, more than 150 members of Congress and their family members are featured in 30-second radio and television PSAs on meaningful social topics.

  • PSAs are now available in your Extreme Reach inbox to run through the end of the year.
  • Thank you for your support of this program to provide your viewers and listeners with information on important issues as well as remind legislators of the enduring and essential role local broadcasters play in every town and city across the country.

4. Alford and Vea Appointed to NAB Television Board of Directors

Andy Alford, president, Broadcasting, Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and Tanya Vea, president and chief operating officer, Bonneville International Corporation, have been appointed to the NAB Television Board of Directors.


5. File Cable Copyright Royalty Claims Now

⏳ It's time to file your claims for cable copyright royalties. To receive your 2022 royalties, a claim must be filed by July 31, 2023, with the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB).

The Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) held a fly-in at NAB's headquarters on Tuesday.

This week, NAB staff brought their children to work for Kids Day. Our young visitors learned about the great work broadcasters are doing every day in their communities and how their parents are supporting local stations. We think there are future broadcasters and advocates in the group!
