1. Congressional Revisions Strengthen Journalism Competition and Preservation Act
Sens. Amy Klobuchar (MN), John Kennedy (LA) and Dick Durbin (IL), along with Reps. David Cicilline (RI-01), Ken Buck (CO-04) and Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) have revised and expanded the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA).
π€ "This legislation would address the dominant power Big Tech gatekeepers wield over local media outlets, including television and radio broadcasters, by enabling fair negotiations when digital platforms seek to offer their users access to our valuable community-based content," said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt.
We expect this bill to go to markup in the Senate Judiciary Committee after Labor Day.
