1. Legislators Speak Out Against Outrageous Fee Hikes for Broadcasters
Ninety-four members of Congress, led by Rep. Tom Emmer (MN-6), have signed on to a letter to the FCC expressing serious concerns with the Commission's proposal for regulatory fees for Fiscal Year 2022.
📃 "Our broadcasters provide an essential and free service to the public. This unjustified fee increase is appalling and out-of-step with regulatory costs for any other industry under the FCC's jurisdiction," said Rep. Emmer.
2. PILOT and Google News Initiative Launch Audience Engagement Accelerator
PILOT, the innovation arm of NAB, has launched a new program with support of the Google News Initiative to improve direct-to-consumer audience engagement to better serve local audiences.
The six-month program is designed to support broadcaster education as well as the implementation of first-party data and direct-to-consumer business models as the phase-out of third-party cookies have created a need for digital publishers to develop new solutions to facilitate digital advertising.
