House Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee Releases Report on Competitive Power of Technology Platforms

The House Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee released a long-awaited report on technology competition issues. The report addressed the major tech platforms' overwhelming competitive power and its impact on local media outlets' ability to invest in, produce and deliver local news and information.

NAB highlighted in comments filed last month that the dominant marketplace power of these platforms puts local broadcast radio and television stations at a competitive disadvantage for advertising revenue and impedes broadcasters' ability to effectively monetize their own content online.

NAB thanks Chairman David Cicilline (RI-01) and the House Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee for its important investigation and for examining the challenges facing local broadcasters as they compete online for advertisers and audiences and the impact on local journalism.

NAB is committed to working with Congress on bipartisan solutions that level the playing field and preserve local journalism. We will continue to keep you apprised as legislative discussions continue.
