Broadcast Spectrum Repack Recap

Phase 10, the final phase of the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) spectrum repack, officially ended on Friday, July 3, 2020. In total, nearly 1,000 TV stations changed frequencies since the spectrum repack began in September 2018.

NAB President and CEO Gordon H. Smith commended these stations and their dedicated staffs for their tireless work to complete these transitions. Click here to read NAB's statement on the conclusion of the repack.

NAB General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs Rick Kaplan participated in a webinar with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today regarding the end of the repack and what lessons were learned.

NAB was proud to support stations with the TV Answers campaign that provided a multitude of resources to help stations educate their viewers, including a consumer website, TVAnswers.org, customizable spots and scripts to press and social outreach tools. Unfortunately, while the official repack ended on July 3, the work for many stations will continue as several broadcasters are still working to complete their transitions to their final facilities.

TV Answers will continue until all stations have transitioned to their permanent facilities, and tools and resources for your station will remain available at TVAnswers.org/tools.
