It’s Time to #EndSTELAR

As your legislators are back home until September 8 for Congress’ district work period, don't miss the opportunity to invite them to tour your station and talk about an important issue that impacts their constituents – the Satellite Television Extensions and Localism Act Reauthorization (STELAR). Urge your members of Congress to let STELAR expire at the end of the year to ensure all Americans have access to the most accurate and timely source of vital community information – their local TV broadcasters.

Where to start?

1. Reach out to your members of Congress.
Contact their district offices to request they visit your station. If you need office information for your members of Congress, please email us. We have tips about communicating with policymakers and how to engage with them when they are in their home offices at nab.org/SpeakUp.

2. Get educated on the issue.
Click here for resources to educate your legislators about STELAR, including handouts and an issue brief.

3. Use the airwaves.
Our We Are Broadcasters spots remind Congress and your audiences of the important role local radio and TV stations play in our communities. By airing these spots, you can make a big difference in our advocacy efforts. Please download and air the spots during recess periods to send a strong message about broadcasters’ unique value.

Thank you for encouraging Congress to let STELAR expire and ensure every community has access to their local stations.

Please reach out to NABMarketing@nab.org with any questions.
