New NAB Poll Shows DTV Awareness Climbing Steadily
Consumer awareness of the nationwide transition to digital television (DTV) is reaching a near-universal level, according to a new national survey released by NAB. A telephone survey of 4,402 households found 92 percent of American households were aware that broadcast television will switch to all-digital broadcasting, up from 90 percent reported in NAB's May 2008 survey.

NAB TV Board Expresses Support for Rockefeller-Capps DTV Legislation
The National Association of Broadcasters Television Board of Directors adopted a resolution on October 15 in support of legislation that would provide stations the ability to educate viewers by broadcasting an informational message in the days following the digital television (DTV) transition on February 17, 2009.

DOT: News Crews Must Wear High-Visibility Vests on Highways Starting in November
A regulation by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) affecting broadcasters goes into effect on November 24, 2008. The regulation will require everyone working on federal-aid highways to wear high-visibility vests. FHWA has interpreted this regulation as including members of the media within the definition of "workers."
