NAB Asks OMB to Reduce Public File Requirements In comments filed on September 15 with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NAB repeated what it said earlier this year to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC): requiring thousands of radio and television stations to file and retain in their public files records that are available to the public on the FCC's website is unnecessary, burdensome and inconsistent with the Paperwork Reduction Act. That act requires the FCC and OMB to consider, among other things, ways to minimize the burden of information collections required by federal agencies, particularly on small businesses. Here, NAB argued, OMB (and the FCC) can easily reduce document collection and retention burdens on local stations by removing requirements to retain redundant information available on the FCC's website.
