Nationwide EAS Test Scheduled for November 9, 2011
On November 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. (EST), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). All EAS participants (TV and radio broadcast stations, cable operators, satellite radio) must participate.

New License Renewal Cycle Started June 1, 2011
Radio stations in North Carolina and South Carolina must have filed their license renewal applications on or before August 1, 2011. Post-filing on-air announcements for these stations must be aired on September 16 and October 1 and 16.

Air Congressional PSAs Today
Earlier this year, NAB's Public Service division invited members of Congress and their families to tape PSAs on issues of concern to their constituents. For the past 25 years, NAB has hosted this Congressional Public Service Announcement program during off-election cycles.

NAB Asks OMB to Reduce Public File Requirements
In comments filed on September 15 with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NAB repeated what it said earlier this year to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC): requiring thousands of radio and television stations to file and retain in their public files records that are available to the public on the FCC's website is unnecessary, burdensome and inconsistent with the Paperwork Reduction Act.
