Eliminate Distant Licenses, Keep Local, NAB Says

In comments filed with the Copyright Office, NAB supported, with certain exceptions, elimination of the statutory licenses that enable cable and satellite to carry the programming on distant television signals into other stations' local markets. The exceptions were for short markets, households truly unserved by satellite, and for nationally distributed superstations. NAB urged retention of the statutory licenses enabling cable and satellite to retransmit television stations in their own local markets. To view NAB's comments click here.
