Broad Coalition Asks FCC to Extend EAS Deadline
A coalition of broadcasters and cable operators, led by NAB and 46 state broadcasters associations, have petitioned the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to extend the deadline by which participants in the Emergency Alert System (EAS) must be able to receive EAS alerts formatted in the new Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) standard recently adopted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

NAB Promotes Station Election Efforts
NAB recently distributed an edition of the NAB Free Air Times newsletter that highlights radio and television broadcasters' efforts during the 2010 campaign season. Working closely with state broadcast associations across the country, the newsletter highlighted numerous examples of broadcasters’ efforts to educate voters during this election cycle. The newsletter demonstrates the influential role broadcasters play in informing voters about the candidates running for office and the prominent political issues facing the electorate. Additionally, the publication highlights the debates, websites, news programs and online resources broadcasters' developed to serve voters in their communities.
