Nominations for the 2010 NAB HD Radio Multicast Award

What are you doing with your HD Radio side channels? All Elvis all the time? Classic hip hop? Indie band showcase? Whatever your niche, you should get credit for the innovative and creative ways you’re reaching listeners with the crystal clear sound of HD Radio.

Beginning July 1, you can submit nominations for the 2010 NAB HD Radio Multicast Award. The award was established in 2007 to recognize stations utilizing HD Radio technology through innovative or groundbreaking programming on a multicast channel.

Stations are asked to submit information including programming, on-air personalities, promotions and branding elements that establish the multicast channel with a separate identity from the main station.

Past HD Radio Multicast Award winners include:

2009 – WAMU-FM won the award for its Bluegrass Country (BGC) stream, 88.5-2. The station is dedicated to enhancing communication with listeners through their redesigned website and several social networking sites.

2008 – Howard University’s WHUR-FM won for “WHUR-World,” an HD2 channel that features non-traditional music, news, community involvement and information.

2007 – KBCO-FM and WRIF-FM were the first winners of the NAB HD Radio Multicast Award. KBCO-FM won for “The Studio C Channel,” which features only the songs recorded on KBCO’s Studio C. WRIF-FM’s station “Riff2” won for highlighting local artists.

Nominations for the 2010 NAB HD Radio Multicast Award will be accepted from July 1-30. The winner will be recognized at this year’s Radio Show, September 29-October 1 in Washington, D.C.

To learn more about the award visit www.nab.org/HDAward or contact Melek Demir in NAB’s Radio department at (202) 775-3511. Don’t delay – nominate your station today for recognition.
