Advocacy Resources for Members
NAB provides resources for broadcasters including issue sheets, talking points and print advertisements to assist stations in their critical grassroots advocacy efforts. All these tools can be downloaded from www.NAB.org. Advertisements To raise broadcasters' visibility on key legislative issues facing our business, NAB places print advertisements in key Capitol Hill publications. Recently, NAB has placed ads on the performance tax, spectrum management and retransmission consent issues. Specifically, the performance tax advertisements highlight the negative impact this fee would have on radio stations and local jobs, as well as the power of radio broadcasters to motivate listeners to stand up for local radio. The spectrum advertisement highlights that broadcasters are innovating for the future and providing a lifeline service for their communities, and thus, should be part of any National Broadband Plan debate. The retransmission consent advertisements reinforce that the system is working as intended and the playing field should not be tilted in cable's favor. They also highlight that retransmission consent fees do not contribute to higher cable prices. Feel free to download and use these advertisements to educate your staff, policymakers or those in your community. Issue Summaries, Filings, Counsel Memos and Talking Points Downloadable issue sheets, and in some cases filings, counsel memos and talking points, are also available for stations on these and other issues. (NAB members must log in with their member ID to obtain certain members-only materials.) Click here to learn more about the legislative and regulatory issues facing broadcasters. Be sure to click on the “Additional Resources” tab on each issue page to access all materials available on the topic. |
