As reported last week, the FCC’s Order approving increases in FM digital operating power went into effect on May 10, 2010. FM digital stations now may increase their power by 6 dB and must notify the Media Bureau within 10 days of commencing this operation. Last week, the FCC issued a Public Notice providing guidance for licensees on procedures they should follow when implementing or requesting digital power increases. The public notice describes how to notify the Commission of power increases up to 6 dB and how to request further power increases of up to 10 dB.
