Reach out to Your Policymakers During August Recess: TV Channel Moves

With the conclusion of the recent broadcast spectrum incentive auction, nearly 1,000 TV stations that did not participate in the auction must move to new channels. Many legislators have very little awareness of why this is happening and how complicated and expensive this process will be.

As members of Congress are in their home districts for the August recess, now is the time to invite them to your station to educate them on the impact these station moves will have on their constituents.

NAB has several resources to help you with these meetings:

As a reminder, we provide resources for stations to help build strong relationships with policymakers at nab.org/speakup, and you can find information on our other key issues at nab.org/AdvocacyResources.

NAB is also developing tools for stations to communicate the impact of these station moves with their viewers, and we will be sure to keep you updated as these resources become available. We urge you to utilize NAB's forthcoming tools to ensure a consistent message for all viewers that minimizes confusion.

We welcome your questions at advocacy@nab.org.
